WHO AM I?

Hello! I'm Rachel Hon Yi Hang. Welcome and thank you for visiting my portfolio. I'm a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Architecture graduate. This is a collection of my architecture works during the undergraduate years in Taylor's university. I was born and raised in a small town - Sandakan in Sabah, Malaysia. My hometown also known as the land below the wind.

WHY ARCHITECTURE?

It started all from my childhood! From a child who loves playing Lego blocks; building up shapes; forming the little playground that she dreamed. Drawing has been part of my life ever since I learned to hold a pen; from my house wall to the coloring books and then to the sketch books. I. M. Pei says Life is architecture and architecture is the mirror of life. I would not brand myself as an artist, but someone who values art works. It is not just about the passion towards creativity, I choose architecture because it is a connectivity between art and life.

ABOUT MY DESIGN?

Less is more, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe. Simplicity is the peak of beauty. I kept most of my design clean by deriving its form from the basic and nature. I always believe architecture should be an art piece that are able to communicate with their clients and community, as well as serving its foundamental needs.
