PROJECT 1C: DETAILED DESIGN & REPORT

Students are expected to come up with final detailed design presentation and a comprehensive final executive report.

1. Based on your proposed sketch design, consider and include expanded aspects of design development in tandem with the design of spaces, e.g. regulatory requirements, fire safety, materials, construction, sustainability, feasibility and other relevant considerations, wherever possible, integrating their development to produce a richer, more multi-layered design.

2. Develop a selected portion of your design for technological development and resolution.

3. Integrate environmental strategies into your design

MUSIC & PERFORMING ART CENTER

The purpose of this project is to design a simple public building with a particular program. The site of this project is placed in a well-planned township, Putrajaya. It is located at Presint 3, along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. It is next to Masjid Besi; facing to the lake and surrounded by a long path of greenaries. Presint 3, is a relatively peaceful and quiet compared to other presints, It will be only crowded during the working hours when the local population came to work and local visitors came for administrative purpose.  This can strongly emphasises that people in Putrajaya is lack of interaction and the entertainment is not interesting enough to keep the locals to stay at here. Hence, this make use of the idea of building a Music and Performing Art Center. This center is able to brighten the lifestyle in Putrajaya and enhance the interaction of people by providing different leisure activies to the community. The activites included performance from performance group, gallery and different type of musical workshop such as modern and traditional music. Thus, it is suitable for locals from different ages to come and join the activities in this center.

GROUND FLOOR PLAN
The entrance of the building is made facing to the main road to allow better traffic and circulation convenience
Circulation of the building is further enhanced by separating the loading bay and visitor carpark to avoid traffic
jam and ensuring a better transport system. In addition, safety pedestrian walkways are made to facilitate the
visitor flow. There are also many of opened spaces such as plaza, cafe landscaping area to allow interaction of
the visitors and our mother nature. From this floor plan, it shows that performance activities are located at left
side whereas workshop activities such as exhibition and mini concert are placed at right side.

FIRST FLOOR PLAN
Theatre is designed in the center of first floor. Dressing and make up room and rehersal room are designed next to the theatre to allow performer and worker convenience. Private lift is also provided for them as well. Furthermore, the bridge and the corridor which is linked to rehersal room are designed openly to enhance the ventilation. In another block, many rooms are designed to allow visitor to learn and play different types of musical instrument. A mini musical library is placed at this level and allow visitor to lend the musical book sheet and play themselves. Glass roof is also designed on top of drop off area and five foot pedestrian walkway to prevent visitor getting wet during raining.

SECOND FLOOR PLAN
Visitors are only able to access the theatre in this level. Waiting area is designed outside to the theatre. Hence,
visitors have to wait at here before the performance started to begin. Dressing and make up room are also
provided in this floor as well. In another side, accomodation is designed for performers to take a rest after
the show is ended. Leisure area and pantry are also designed for them to use.

THIRD FLOOR PLAN
Control room is located at the highest level. This enables the workers to monitor and control the whole
performance easily. Other services included water tank area and lift motor room are also placed at this level
as well. In another block, green roof is applied. Hence, visitors are able to enjoy the whole lake view on it
