PROJECT 2B: RETREAT HOUSE AT FRASER'S HILL

Project 2b extends the understanding of design concept and process. It introduces the notion of architectural space making through the design of a user specific architectural scheme. This project explores the relationship between architectural tectonics, function and space in architecture.  This retreat must function as habitable architectural spaces to enable the activity associated with living, dining, showering, cooking, storage and such within the built up space of 150 square meter. The relationship between your design and the context is also important in making the retreat unique to its landscape and activity.

RETREAT HOUSE

This project is about designing a retreat house for my client, who was a psychotherapist.  Through this project, I have learnt to interpret and analyse client’s character and needs in relation to the design of a small building.  Meanwhile, I also learnt to design a simple building type that meets user requirements and respect site context that balances both internal and external design values.  Other than that, I learnt to be discipline and manage the time in doing this project so that I can complete it on time.  Furthermore, I also applied the theories that I have learnt from previous assignment into this project.  Hence, my work can be more efficient and nicer.
