HON YI HANG
PROJECT 2:GENIUS LOCI- SITE ANALYSIS CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
In this semester, we were assigned to visit Bujang Valley, Kedah as our project site. We have to anaylse the macro and micro site anaylsis of Bujang Valley. Bujang Valley is a place which is famous with the artifacts and the civilization of Bujang Valley had started since long time ago. Hence, it means that Bujang Valley is a historical place. This is the reason that many visitors came to here.
Other than just doing the site analysis of Bujang Valley, we also need to find and get the inspiration from here and produce a concept design for a Visitor Interpretive Centre. Followings are the some photos of Bujang Valley.
The first impression that Bujang Valley gives me is the artifact which placed at there. Most of them are being destroyed, especially the Candi 11. Candi 11 is fully destroyed by the developing projects. This situation inspired me to design a Visitor Interpretive Center which allow the visitors to understand the importance artifact preservation. Other than individual project, project 2 also required me and my previous groupmates to produce micro-site analysis of the identified micro site. Due to the site is too big, so that we combined with other group to form a big group. Each group share and exchange the information to each other. The content of micro site analysis included site survey, orientation (sun path), climate (rainfall & temperature), site contours, adjacent street and vehicular traffic patterns, pedestrian circulation, neighbouring contexts, vegetation, views from the site, views to the site, views through the site, noise and human-Cultural. Followings are powerpoint of micro site analysis which is done by my group.
