PROJECT 2: URBAN INFILL








This project assigned students to design a community library within an urban infill site. The design of the building is to consist of appropriate architectural responses that address the aspects of the urban street context and user behavioural patterns as discerned and analysed in the Preliminary Studies. The design development of this project will include an introduction to the legislative restrictions that impact an architectural scheme, the integration of lighting and acoustic design, as well as the design exploration and detailing of the façade and building envelopes that is coherent with the architectural language of the overall design project.
SENTUL COMMUNITY LIBRARY
The objective of this project is to design a community library for the whole community. This library is designed as an focal point within the area in order to enhance the interaction between people from different ages and backgrounds. This community library is designed between two shophouses. The location is located in front of Jalan Haji Salleh, Sentul. Sentul is one of the original districts in Kuala Lumpur. It is often viewed as an area that encapsulates old world-charm. Hence, the contrast between poor and rich, old people and young people are obviously can be found in Sentul. This had inspired to the concept; Regeneration. This concept is able to integrate the whole sentul community. Nowadays, there is a gap between each generation especially old folk and children. Thus, this community library will be planned to manage by retired old folk and provide the oppoturnity for children and old folk to interact
